Loraine Selinger, 83, Dickinson, died Monday, December 22, 2014 at Sanford Health, Bismarck. Loraine’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9 a.m., Monday, December 29, 2014 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Fr. Shannon. Interment will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, with Deacon Jerry Volk presiding. Visitation will be on Sunday from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a rosary & vigil at 7 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, with Deacon Ron Wolberg presiding. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
Loraine Schorsch was born June 12, 1931 at Havelock, the daughter of Joe and Eva (Mesling) Schorsch. She was raised and educated in New England, graduating from New England High School in 1949.
Loraine was united in marriage to Richard Selinger on November 29, 1951 at Camp Rucker in Alabama, while he was stationed there. They lived in Wahpeton and Dickinson for a period of time before making New England their home. While in New England she enjoyed gardening, and the two of them owned and operated a greenhouse for 25 years.
They moved to Dickinson in 1999, and the past few years she has enjoyed the friendships established while living at Hawks Point. Loraine belonged to the Altar Guild, and volunteered with the St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary. She loved baking and making rolls. Loraine was especially proud of her grandchildren and great-granddaughter, and could be found at all of their events and activities.
Loraine is survived by her five children, Cindy (Keith) Hanson, New England, Bruce (Brenda) Selinger, Dickinson, Shari (John) Griffin, Bismarck, Dave (Cindy) Selinger, Dickinson, and Missy (Lee) Hanson, Bismarck; 11 grandchildren, Eric (Tina) Hanson, Jody (Ryan Maddock) Hanson, Jacob (Katie) Selinger, Jordan (fiance-Kayla) Selinger, Annie Griffin, Julie Griffin, Alyssa Selinger, Chandra Selinger, Braden Selinger, Ryan Hanson, and Sara Hanson; great-granddaughter, Kennedie Hanson; one sister, Fran (John) Hanstad; four sisters-in-law, Maggie Schorsch, Margaret Schorsch, Chris Schorsch, and Laureen Grossman; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard on March 12, 2011; her parents; and four brothers, Edwin Schorsch, Floyd Schorsch, Donald Schorsch, and George Grossman.
