Lorene Magdalene Grossman, 93, formerly of Dickinson, died Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at Buhl, Idaho. Lorene’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Friday, July 22, 2016 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, with Msgr. Patrick Schumacher as the celebrant. Inurnment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a rosary & vigil at 7 p.m., with Deacon Bob Zent presiding, at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson.

Lorene M. Rohr was born July 19, 1922 at the family home in Dickinson, the daughter of Mike and Mary (Lefor) Rohr. She was raised and educated in the Dickinson area, attending grade school in Dunn County at the Wild Rose District, and graduating from Dickinson High School in 1942. She attended one summer at Dickinson State Teacher’s College.

Lorene was united in marriage to George P. Grossman on October 17, 1944 at St. Phillip’s Catholic Church, north of Gladstone. She taught school grades 1 through 8 in Dunn County for two years, worked as a bookkeeper in Regent at the Co-op Store until they moved to Dickinson. In Dickinson she worked as a bookkeeper for three years at the Gamble Store and nine years at Goodyear Service Store in Dickinson.

She belonged to the St. Henry’s Altar Society in Regent, St. Ann’s Altar Society at St. Joseph’s and St. Wenceslaus churches in Dickinson, and also as League Secretary at Classic Lanes. Lorene enjoyed gardening and canning each summer. She also greatly enjoyed working with her flowers, sewing for her family as well as taking in sewing. Her main love, however, was making baby quilts.

Lorene is survived by two daughters, Darlene (Cliff) York, Buhl, Idaho, and Mary Kaye (Ardin) Hermanson, Brighton, Colo.; one brother, Norbert (Arlene) Rohr, Lefor; seven grandchildren, Lanie (Sarah) Frenzel, Lori (Tad) Lefor, Daniel York, Sara (Darrell) Higgins, Tate (Phylicia) Hermanson, Carla Horob and Trevor (Melissa) Hermanson, sixteen great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.

Lorene was preceded in death by her husband, George on September 10, 2010; both parents; brothers, George and Edgar Rohr; and sisters, Delores Koppinger and Rosemary Borland.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers Mass intentions by given to the church.
