Lorraine B. Sykora, 88, Dickinson, died on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at Benedictine Living Community, Dickinson. Lorraine’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, January 29, 2026 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson with Fr. Robert Shea as celebrant. Interment will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with a Rosary & Vigil at 6 p.m. with Deacon Bob Zent presiding. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the Mass at the church.

Lorraine Froehlich was born August 3, 1937 in Dickinson, the daughter of Jack and Justine (Semerad) Froehlich. She attended Stark County schools and Model High School. She went on to work at St. Joseph’s Hospital and then began a career of cooking at St. Wenceslaus School and Knights of Columbus.

Lorraine married Laudie L. Sykora on June 27, 1956. They moved to a farm northwest of Dickinson for three years until moving to town in 1960. They were members of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and she served with the St. Anne’s Altar Society. She especially enjoyed time with her grandchildren.

Lorraine is survived by her son, Robert (Sherri), Dickinson; daughters, Connie (Francis) Knopik, Belfield, and Denice (Terry) Hager, Nebraska City, NE; seven grandchildren, Stephen (Emmily) Knopik, Jessica (Funnon) Barker, Debrah (Lester) Iverson, Grace (Shawn) Krenz, Daniel (Tyler) Knopik, Joe (Chailane) Hager, and Chris Hager; 21 great-grandchildren; brother, Lee (Jeanette) Froehlich, Anaheim, CA; sister-in-law, Georgie (Vince) Hibl, Dickinson; and numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband, Laudie Sykora, on August 8, 2011; her parents; brothers, Clarence, Raymond (Marian), Victor (Hattie), and Herman (Ann).
