Lorraine Kukla, 76, Killdeer, died Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at St. Joseph’s Hospital & Health Center, Dickinson. Lorraine’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Monday, June 20, 2011 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Killdeer, with Fr. Darnis Selvanayakam, MSFX as the celebrant. Interment will follow at Korsun Cemetery, Killdeer. Visitation with a closed casket at Lorraine’s request will be from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, and will continue at the church from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a vigil at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services on Monday.
Lorraine Pavlenko was born June 9, 1935 at Killdeer, the daughter of Nick and Pauline (Paladichuk) Pavlenko. She was raised and educated in Killdeer having attended Killdeer public schools.
Lorraine married Antone “Tony” Kukla on August 11, 1953 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Killdeer. Together they farmed and ranched near Killdeer, and also operated a butcher shop together.
Lorraine belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary, and was involved in the circle group at church. She enjoyed gardening, raising flowers, cooking, watching the kids in rodeos, and especially enjoyed visiting and socializing.
Lorraine is survived by her four children, Carol (Warren) Schneider, Manning, Curt (Colleen) Kukla, Golden Valley, Wayne Kukla, Killdeer, and Rockie (Jeanne) Kukla, Barton; her grandchildren, Chad (Angie) Schneider, Cory (Lindzee) Schneider, Cody Skurupey, Kash, Kaden and Pace Kukla, and Carolyne Kukla; great-grandchildren, Megan, Matthew, Michael, Mackenzee and Collin; one sister, Loretta Thomas, Sumner, Wash.; and two brothers, Gene (Sandy) Pavlenko, Tekoa, Wash., and Bill Pavlenko, Dickinson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony on September 10, 2010, her parents, brother-in-law, John Thomas, nephew, Johnnie Dean Thomas, and niece, Cheri Pavlenko.
