Louie Earl Twogood, 79, Dickinson, died Thursday, February 3, 2011 at his home. Louie’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:30 p.m., Monday, February 7, 2011 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Abbot Brian Wangler, OSB as the celebrant. Interment will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, military honors will be provided by the Veterans Honor Team following the mass. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, with a vigil at 2 p.m., with Deacon Bob Stockert presiding.
Louie Earl Twogood was born November 19, 1931 to Albert and Alma (Rohde) Twogood in Dunn County. He grew up on his parents farm south of Werner and attended school in Werner.
Louie was drafted into the United States Army in May 1952 and he served honorably during the Korean War and until his discharge in May 1954.
On September 8, 1954 he married Jean Zelinsky in Dickinson, where three children were born to them and they made their home until 1972 when they moved to Colorado. Louie worked as a journeymen in the heating and air conditioning business. In 1998 they retired and moved to Dickinson. He and Jean were members of the St. Anthony Club, and in when possible he enjoyed fishing and playing cards.
Louie is survived by his wife, Jean; their three children, Russell (Georgette) Twogood, Arvada, Colo., Scott Peter Twogood, Denver, Colo., and Roxane Twogood, Dickinson; five grandchildren, Sara Twogood, Denver, Chase and Jacob Twogood, Westminster, Colo., and Tyler and Lucas Preston, Dickinson; one great-granddaughter, Autumn Rose Preston; two sisters, Ethel Hibl, and Elna (Dave) Olheiser, Dickinson; and two sisters-in-law, Louise Twogood and Ethel Twogood. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Melvin and Marvin Twogood; and two brothers-in-law, Sam Tymchuck and Laudie Hibl. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Heartland Hospice, Dickinson.
