Louise E. Thompson, 100, Dickinson, died Saturday, November 22, 2014 at St. Benedict’s Health Center, Dickinson. Louise’s funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, with Rev. Larry Vickery officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service.

Louise E. Nice was born December 18, 1913 at rural Sanish, the daughter of Amenzo E. and Nancy E. (Campbell) Nice. She was raised near Sanish, where she attended a rural school west of town, high school in Manitou and Minot prior to her graduation from Sanish High School.

In a double wedding ceremony, Louise and Earl E. Thompson along with Louise’s brother Daniel Nice and Edna LaBar were united in marriage on July 3, 1934 at Wolf Point, Mont. Louise was a mother, homemaker, and farm wife. She had spent one winter at the Kaiser Swan Island Ship Yard at Portland, Ore., welding during WWII, then at the ASCS Office in Stanley, and the post office in Seattle, Wash. While in Washington, her husband Earl died in 1980, Louise remained there for a few years until her move to Dickinson.

She had belonged to the Daughters of the American Revolution, and helped coordinate Meals-on-Wheels in Federal Way, Wash. She enjoyed genealogy, art and painting, traveling, and was an avid reader, especially Revolutionary War and Civil War history.

Louise is survived by two sons, Larry (Jerri) Thompson, Dickinson, and Derry (Karen) Thompson, Kasilof, Alaska; 10 grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; eight stepgreat-grandchildren; and three step-great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earl on January 15, 1980; five brothers; two sisters; son, Jack Thompson; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Thompson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
