Louise M. Breker was born November 17, 1928 in Lidgerwood, daughter of Henry and Annie (Neuber) Breker. She was raised and educated in Lidgerwood, having graduated from Lidgerwood High School. She went on to attend Valley City State Teachers College where she earned a teaching certificate. Louise taught country school for five years and had also worked in the bank in Watford City.

Louise was united in marriage to Joseph K. Krebs on October 13, 1953 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Lidgerwood. For ten years following their marriage, they made their living at Ipswich, S.D. where they farmed. They purchased a farm on the edge of New England, living there for two years, before moving a few miles northwest of there. In 1971, they moved back to the farm on the edge of New England and set up a milking operation. They remained there until a move to Dickinson in 1999.

She had belonged to the Altar Guild and the church choir. She enjoyed crocheting afghans, sewing, genealogy, singing in the choir and gardening. Louise was very devoted to her church, praying the rosary, our mother of perpetual help, and her family. She was an excellent cook, never forgot to wish happy birthday and anniversaries and especially enjoyed her grandchildren. She never swore instead she would say “confounded the luck”.

Louise is survived by 12 children, Marian (Ken) Jordan, Murfreesboro, Tenn., Steve (Maria) Krebs, Dickinson, Matt (Kerry) Krebs, Dickinson, Frank (Nancy) Krebs, Hardin, Mont., Ralph Krebs, Dickinson, Judy (Tom) Champa, Reno, Nevada, Helen (Chuck) Rummel, Spearfish, S.D., Jerome Krebs, Dubuque, Iowa, Angie (Kent) Maershbecker, New England, Lori (Aaron) Hewson, Dickinson, Joe (Kris) Krebs, Dickinson, and Ilene (Todd) Lubick, Hudson, Wis.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph on October 14, 2000; daughter-in-law, Aggie Krebs; and siblings, Henry “Heinie” Breker, Angeline Breker, Edward Breker and infant brother, Laurence.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the St. Joseph’s Church Pine Room Renovation.
