Louise Rebel, 89, formerly of New England, died Friday, September 27, 2013 at St. Luke’s Home. Louise’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, October 5, 2013 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Fr. Todd Kreitinger as the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Richardton. Visitation will be on Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, with a rosary & vigil at 7 p.m., with Deacon Ron Keller presiding.

Louise Reiter was born March 25, 1924 to Philip and Katherine (Stefan) Reiter at Richardton. She was raised along with five sisters and one brother on her parents farm south of Richardton.

After completing her education, she taught one year at Aurora School in Stark County. During that year she was introduced to her future husband, Joseph N. Rebel. They were married November 23, 1943. Together they farmed for four years north of Dickinson, then moved to a farm southwest of Hebron. During this time they raised on son and four daughters. In 1959 they moved to Dickinson, and two more sons were added to the family. In 1964 they purchased a farm near New England, where they ran a dairy and farming operation.

Joseph passed away in 1995 and Louise continued to run the farm with her youngest son. She retired in 2004 and moved back to Dickinson.

Louise loved gardening and canning what she had grown. She was a very good cook and baker, and loved having Sunday company. In her spare time she would relax with a good book. She also found time in her busy life to sew quilts for her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed visits from her many nieces and nephews.

Louise is survived by her seven children, Kenneth (Dorothy) Rebel, Bismarck, Ruth (Bill) Berger, Dickinson, Peggy (Ron) Bogner, Killdeer, Ardis (Randy) Ulmer, Dickinson, Shirley (Neil) Brentrup, Dickinson, Jerry (Mischelle) Rebel, New England, and Bruce Rebel, New England; 17 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe; her parents; her sisters, Florence Kaip, Francis Reiter, Mary Dukart, Theresa Armburst, and Rose Reiter; brother, Loy Reiter; and two infant brothers, Valentine and John.
