Lucille “Lu” Zalesky, 83, Dickinson, died Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at Sanford Health, Bismarck. Lucille’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, February 12, 2022 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson with Fr. Keith Streifel as celebrant. Interment will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be on Friday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with a rosary and vigil at 7 p.m. with Deacon Ron Keller presiding. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Lucille Lupo was born on September 6, 1938 in Dickinson, the daughter of Louis and Lois (Sargiano) Lupo. Lucille grew up and attended St. Joseph’s Grade School in Dickinson and she graduated from Dickinson Central High School in 1956, where she was a cheerleader. Following High School Lucille was involved in organizing many class reunions to a great success.

Lucille met Arlen Zalesky while working together at the Dickinson Theaters and married Arlen Zalesky on July 11, 1959 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Dickinson. They were blessed with one daughter, Michelle who they were so proud of. Lu worked for Dr. E.D. Haunson Chiropractic Clinic 20 years as a registered clinical secretary, owned and operated Shamrock Bar in Dickinson for 20 years with her husband Arlen. She also worked 25 years for H & R Block in Dickinson.

Lu kept an immaculate home and yard, enjoyed puzzles, watching tv game shows, as well as high school and all professional sports on tv. She also belonged to the Dickinson Elks Club.

She was a huggable Grandma and always had treats on the kitchen table if someone stopped. Lu loved shopping many hours with her daughter, Michele and granddaughters, Marissa “Rissa” and Alexandra “Ali”. Ali loves Sales!

She enjoyed cooking and baking for family, friends and neighbors especially at Christmas. If you happened to drive by her house the picture window was decorated to the theme of the holiday. Lu especially loved spending time with her family. Lucille is survived by her daughter, Michelle (Ross) Engraf, Hettinger; grandchildren, Marissa (Brandon) Loll, Hettinger and Alexandra Engraf, Fargo; great-grandson, Brantley Jon-Ross Loll; great-granddaughter, Saige Loll, whom she loved dearly; two more soon to be born great-grandsons; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Arlen in 2014; her parents, Louis and Lois Lupo; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe (Ginny) Lupo and Geno (Karen) Lupo; sister, Mary Kostelecky; baby Zalesky; baby brother, Joseph; baby sister, Catherine; and brother-in-law, Edwin Kostelecky.
