Luella “Lu” was born August 26, 1953 in Dickinson, one of eight children born to Peter A. Stroh and Margaret Bosch.
Luella grew up on the family farm Northwest of Manning and attended Killdeer and Dickinson public schools growing up and later attended secretarial school in Bismarck. She married Steve Larsen on December 18, 1975. They were blessed with two children, Heather and Don, and later welcomed four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. During their marriage, Luella and Steve owned and operated the Oasis Hotel and West Plains Motel until they sold those businesses. Luella later began another successful career in the mineral rights management industry until her retirement. Upon her retirement, Luella moved from Dickinson to Florida. In addition to her talented business acumen, she had a passion for antiques, restoring furniture and loved old homes. Her homes were always spotless and she greatly enjoyed the outdoors and tending to her lawn. Throughout her life, Luella enjoyed the many travels she took across the globe with family and friends. In her past-time, Luella enjoyed cross-stitching in her early years, playing card games, in particular “Peanuts” whenever she could and was an avid reader. Luella loved the lake at her sister Carol’s home and enjoyed the tranquil beach life at her home in Florida. Her most joyful moments on this earth were spending treasured time with all of her family, her siblings, and friends.
Luella is survived by her children, Heather (Greg) Duchscher, Don Larsen and their father Steve Larsen; her siblings, Emanuel (Faye) Stroh, Dianne (David) Steffan, Carol Malloy, Vernetta (Don) Bice, Ethel (Bob) Wierson, her sister-in-law Jackie (Ron) Schlinger, her brother-in-law David (Nellene) Hoselton; her grandchildren, Hallie (Ryan), Eala, Christian, and Kadin; her great-granddaughter Aria; many nieces and nephews who lovingly refer to Luella as Auntie Lu or Aunt Lolly, and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many loving friends from around the country.
