Luther L. Rhoads, 73, Belfield, died Friday, April 22, 2016 at St. Benedict’s Health Center, Dickinson. Luther’s funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Friday, April 29, 2016 at Belfield Lutheran Church, Belfield, with Rev. Roger Dieterle officiating. Interment will take place at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hurdsfield, on Saturday at 1 p.m., CT. Visitation will be on Thursday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, with the family present from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., to greet and visit with friends. Visitation will continue on Friday from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at the church.

Luther L. Rhoads was born December 14, 1942 at the family home at Hurdsfield, the son of Harold and Sybil (Workman) Rhoads. He was raised and educated in Hurdsfield and also Devils Lake where he attended the North Dakota School for the Deaf.

While working in Williston, he met Dorothy Cotton, and on March 16, 1973 they were united in marriage in Williston. Luther worked as a truck driver in the oil field until an injury he received in an accident put him on disability. They have made Belfield their home since 1976.

When able to he enjoyed going fishing, hunting, shooting pool, spending time with his grandchildren, and listening to Country and Gospel music.

Luther is survived by his wife, Dorothy; their five children, Loren (Linda) Rhoads, Williston, Kelly Rhoads, Williston, Michael Rhoads, Belfield, Charlene (Garett) Wandler, Dickinson, and Jerry (fiancé-Cassandra Lashley) Rhoads, Belfield; 13 grandchildren, Dacury (James) Kramer, Jordan Rhoads, James Rhoads, Joshua Rhoads, Lakota Rhoads, Dylan Wandler, Alexandra Wandler, Melissa Rhoads, Christina Rhoads, Noah Rhoads, Seth Rhoads, Isaiah Rhoads, and Alexzander Rhoads; two great-grandchildren, Jayden and Grayson Kramer; and two siblings, Harold “Dusty” Rhoads, Minot, and Mary (Alvin) Braunagel, Bismarck. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold; his mother and step-dad, Sybil and Art Hagen; and his sister and husband, Carman (Ervin) Wollman.
