Lydia J. Steiner, 92, Dickinson, died Thursday, October 1, 2020 at St. Benedict’s Health Center, Dickinson. Lydia’s Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Fr. Keith Streifel as celebrant. Entombment will follow at the Dickinson Mausoleum. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. at Ladbury Funeral Service with Deacon Al Schwindt presiding.
Lydia Weber was born March 3, 1928 in Stark County, near St. Placidus, the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth (Hecker) Weber. She was raised near Schefield, attended boarding school in Richardton and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Richardton. She went on to attend Dickinson State Teachers College where she earned a two year teaching certificate. Lydia taught country school in the area for several years.
Lydia was united in marriage to Clarence A. Steiner on November 10, 1952 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. They made their home in Dickinson where they raised their five children. Her faith was extremely important to her, praying the rosary loyally. She enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles, volunteering at St. Benedict’s Health Center and working at both the Dickinson Motel and NoDak Motel.
Lydia is survived by her children, Vernon (Ann) Steiner, Riverside, Calif., Melvin (Vicky) Steiner, Dickinson, Rodney (Cindy) Steiner, Dickinson, and Cynthia (Homer) Sianghio, Kent, Wash.; daughter-in-law, Shari Carter-Steiner, Eldridge, Iowa; grandchildren, Jason Steiner, Joshua (Alyssa) Steiner, Jacob Steiner, Christopher (Chrissy) Steiner, Alyssa Steiner, Brendin (Katelyn) Steiner, Colton Steiner, Maranda Sianghio, and Nicholas Sianghio; great-grandchildren, Xander Steiner, Ethan Steiner, Jaxon Steiner, and Logan Steiner; and her siblings, Joe (Judy) Weber, Ed (Luella) Weber, and Gloria Baker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence, on December 20, 2009; her son, Eugene; sister, Delores (Arnie) Mischel; and brother-in-law, Paul Baker.
