Mae A. Ellis, 87, Killdeer, ND, died Saturday, August 25, 2007 at the Hill Top Home of Comfort, Killdeer. Mae’s funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 27, 2007 at the Hill Top Home of Comfort, Killdeer with Pastor Ray Berry officiating. Interment will take place in the Holyoke Memorial Park Cemetery in Holyoke, CO, on Thursday. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to service time on Monday at Hill Top Home of Comfort.

Mae A. Walgren was born November 7, 1919 at Holyoke, CO, the daughter of Eric Leo Walgren and Delphine (Ayers) Walgren. She was raised and educated in Colorado and Oregon. Her family had an orchestra in which Mae played the piano and the drums.

Mae married Lester Ellis in September 25, 1937 in Sidney, NE. They lived on various farms around Holyoke and Yuma, CO. Then Lester’s construction jobs had them moving about Colorado and New Mexico prior to moving to Empire, CO. In the mid 1960’s they purchased the Empire Motel and Trailer Park where she was the bookkeeper and managed the motel while Lester did all the maintenance and upkeep. They moved to Manning in 1983 to be with their children, Lester died June 2, 1986. She became a resident of the Hill Top Home of Comfort in March 2005.

Mae is survived by three children, Emma (Jim) Basic, Anchorage, AK, Judy Enoch, New England, ND, and Albert (Kat Huguenin) Ellis, Manning; grandchildren, Pamela Ellis, James Enoch, James “Scooter” Pursley, Terry Pursley, Carolyn “Candy” Noland; great-grandchildren, Isabelle “Izzy” Ellis, MaeKenna Noland, Keagan Noland, Emily, Glenn, Tia, Tabitha and Terrance Pursley; and one brother, Edward (Gladys) Walgren, Beaverton, OR. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and four siblings.
