Magdalene (Maggie) Pribyl, 99, Rapid City, SD (formerly of Dickinson, ND), passed away Sunday April 16, 2023, at Fountain Springs Healthcare Center in Rapid City surrounded by family. Maggie’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Monday, April 24, 2023 St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Dickinson with Fr. William Ruelle as celebrant. Interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation will be on Sunday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with a rosary & vigil at 7 p.m. with Deacon Leonard Krebs presiding.

Magdalene (Maggie) Hatzenbuhler was born February 4, 1924, on the family farm south of Dickinson, the daughter of Jacob and Theresa (Miller) Hatzenbuhler. She was raised and educated in the Frenzel School District, located south of the farm.

Maggie was united in marriage to Louie W. Pribyl on June 3, 1946 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dickinson. They moved to the Pribyl family farm three miles north of Dickinson following their marriage. In 1980 they retired from the farm and moved to Dickinson. In 2017, she moved to Rapid City where she lived with her youngest son Scott until the time of her passing.

Maggie enjoyed playing bingo, cards, and traveling with her siblings, and most of all her family. She enjoyed gardening and canning in the summer and fall, as well as spending time with her sisters Margaret and Betty, at art and crafts shows, displaying their collection of crocheted Barbie doll dresses. She also passed time by crocheting blankets for her children and grandchildren.

Maggie is survived by her children, Carol, Rapid City, SD, Audrey, China Township, MI, Connie (Tim) Okerlund, Mesa, AZ, Robert (Bob) and special friend Kay, Billings MT, and Scott, Rapid City; grandchildren, Jodie Strecker and special friend Ron and her children Quinn and Taylor; Shad (Steph) Buckmiller and his children Christian, Nicolas, Natalie; Christalynn Pribyl; Amber Pribyl; Adrian Buckmiller and her children Bryan Turnbaugh (daughter Lydia) and Alexis Turnbaugh; Nicole Pribyl and her daughter Evelynn Turner; Andrew Pribyl; Aleeca (Allie) and her son Gavynn Maas; siblings, Pauline Greff and Frank (Julie) Hatzenbuhler.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louie W. Pribyl (1990), her parents; siblings and in-laws, John (Mary), Albert (Opal), Hilda (Ray) Conner, Clement (Betty), Betty (Albert) Marsh, Joseph Greff, Margaret (Laudie) Ficek, and Mike (Leona) Hatzenbuhler; sisters-in-law, Viola (Hank) Kadrmas and Carm (Earnest) Ficek, Martha (Louie) Braun; and brother-in-law; Ed Pribyl (Tillie) Pribyl; second wife, (Irma) Pribyl; and Laudie (Lena) Pribyl.
