Maggie Stoltz, 91, Dickinson, ND, died Sunday, December 31, 2006, in Dickinson. Maggie’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 P.M. CDT, Friday, January 5, 2007 at Spirit of Life Catholic Church, Mandan, ND, with Fr. John Mathai as the celebrant. Interment will take place in the spring in Minot. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
Magdalen Berger was born April 18, 1915 at St. Anthony, ND the daughter of George and Margaret (Miller) Berger. She was raised and educated in the St. Anthony area.
Maggie married Philip Stoltz on August 17, 1936 at Odense, ND. They farmed in the Solen area until 1950 at which time they moved into Mandan and she worked at George’s Bakery. In 1957 they moved to Minot where she worked at the Airport Café until 1967 when they decided to move to Washington. Philip died on January 4, 2005 and Maggie remained in Washington until July of 2006 when she moved to Dickinson where she lived with her son Kenny and Karen, whom the family said had taken such good care of her.
Maggie is survived by five children, Eileen Stumpf, Billings, MT, June (Art) McKenzie, Henderson, NV, Betty (Rick) Dagan, Scottsdale, AZ, Bill (Kathy) Stoltz, Scottsdale, AZ, and Kenny (Karen) Berger, Dickinson; 54 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; one sister, Clara Berger, Mandan; one brother, George Berger, Coeur d’Alene, ID; two sisters-in-law, Angie Berger and Alma Berger, Mandan; one brother-in-law, Henry Hoffman, Mandan; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one son, Jim Stoltz, two sons-in-law, Joe Stumpf and Richard Dagan, and three sisters and eight brothers, Catherine Berger, Pauline Hoffman, Frances Glasser, Nick, Mike, Tim, Marcus, Philip, John, Jack and Adam Berger.
