Marcus A. Marthaller, 49, Dickinson died Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at the St. Luke’s Home, Dickinson. Marcus’ funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Friday, September 16, 2011 at Hillside Baptist Church with Reverend Ronald Gold officiating, interment will follow at Dickinson Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. with family present to visit with guests from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Ladbury Funeral Service. Visitation will continue hour prior to service time at the church.

Marcus was born April 15, 1962 at Dickinson to Lary and Carolyn (Duckwitz) Marthaller. Marcus attended school in Dickinson and graduated from Dickinson High School in 1980. Following graduation, Marcus attended school at NDSU and Mary College, he then worked in the physical therapy department at the hospital in Scottsbluff, Neb., a job he loved. After returning to Dickinson Marcus found the love of his life, Amy K. Bleile, they were married April 25, 1998 at Hillside Baptist Church.

With a very determined personality Marcus fought a tremendous battle with life following brain cancer in 1978. His struggle lasted 33 years—trusting in the Lord and praising Him all the way sustained him through it all.Marcus enjoyed playing cards, Parcheesi, and watching football, mostly the Dallas Cowboys. He loved time with his family. Marcus loved God, his family, and his church, but Amy was the love of his life. He will be greatly missed by Amy and his family and friends.

Marcus is survived by his wife, Amy, Dickinson, his parents, Lary and Carolyn, Dickinson and one brother Mickel (Pamala) Marthaller and one very special niece, Ava, Minneapolis, Minn. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and several uncles and aunts. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be given to the American Cancer Society, 2401 46th Ave SE, Ste 102, Mandan, ND 58554.
