Margaret Elmquist, 93, Dickinson, died Sunday, April 20, 2008 at the St. Luke’s Home, Dickinson. Margaret’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 25, 2008 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Dickinson with Fr. Jeff Zwack as the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. There will be a vigil at 7 p.m., Thursday at Ladbury Funeral Service with Fr. Jeff Zwack presiding.

Margaret Braxmeier was born July 14, 1914 in Dickinson, the daughter of Frederick and Edith (Freed) Braxmeier. She was raised and educated in Dickinson where she has spent her entire life. Margaret married Gordon Elmquist in Dickinson on June 18, 1936.

Margaret enjoyed baking, was a wonderful cook and many fond memories were made around her table. She belonged to a her bridge club for 50 years and enjoyed making braided rugs and crocheting. Margaret along with Sr. Bede Bezdicek were instrumental in the home visitation service provided by the Queen of Peace Parish. Her church was very important to her and she loved to be an active part of the church, such as the Catholic Daughters. Margaret’s greatest joys came from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Margaret had been a resident of the Evergreen, St. Benedict’s, Country House and most recently the St. Luke’s Home.

Margaret is survived by her children, Marilyn (Erv) Kessel, Dickinson, Judy (William) Beaudoin, Grand Junction, Colo., Karen (Chuck) Magyar, Worthington, Minn., Charles (Marilyn) Elmquist, Golden, Colo., Bobbie (Doug) Hanson, Dickinson, and James Elmquist, Bismarck; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Florence Hagen, Dickinson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon, on May 2, 1971; sisters, Elizabeth Davis, Pauline Derouin, Marie Berger and Eleanor Braxmeier; and one brother, Frank Braxmeier.
