Margaret Kanski, 73, Fairfield, ND, died Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at her home. Margaret’s Funeral Parastas will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, February 2, 2008 at St. Demetrius Ukrainian Catholic Church, Fairfield, with Fr. Taras Miles officiating assisted by Deacon Leonard Kordonowy. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fairfield. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday at Ladbury Funeral Service with a prayer service at 7 p.m., with Sr. Stephanie Dolyniuk presiding. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
Margaret Palaniuk was born March 13, 1934 at Belfield, ND, the daughter of Stephen and Mary (Dolyniuk) Palaniuk. She was raised and educated north of Belfield in the Gorham area.
Margaret married Sam Kanski September 27, 1952 and together they started their lives in the Snow, ND, area. They eventually purchased and moved to a farm northwest of Gorham where she has lived since. In her spare time she enjoyed doing cross stitching and truly cherished the wonderful times that was spent with her grandchildren.
Margaret is survived by three children, Kenneth Kanski, Fairfield, Kathy (Bob) Ceynar, Williston, ND, and Kevin (Brenda) Kanski, Fairfield; sister, Martha Kanski, Oregon; brother, Roy (Ardyce) Palaniuk, Dickinson; sister-in-law, Virginia Palaniuk, Belfield; nine grandchildren, Nichole (Shawn) Ruffie, Krystal (Dave) Steppler, Kyle Ceynar, Rachel Kanski, Kristopher Kanski, Rosanne Kanski, Valerie Kanski, Robert Kanski and Kurtis Kanski; one great-grandson, Carter Ruffie; and four aunts, Sr. Stephanie Dolyniuk, Betty Larson, Elsie Evoniuk and Tony Dolyniuk. She was preceded in death by her husband Sam on October 9, 1997, her parents, and her brother Max Palaniuk.
