Maggie was born February 17, 1949, in Spokane, Washington, the daughter of Mike and Edna (Zearly) Prudente. She was raised and educated in Bismarck. Maggie attended business school, focusing on accounting, and later in life, she filled many different roles. She married Leo Piatz on July 28, 1995, in Mercer County, North Dakota. In addition to yarn crafts, Maggie was a prolific quilter. She organized numerous quilting retreats throughout western and central North Dakota, including some in Medora, Richardton, and Bismarck.
Maggie was a gentle and caring soul. One of her favorite ways to deal with stressors of the day was to jump in the car with Leo and go for a road trip. She also enjoyed spending time camping. Her dogs held a special place in her heart.
