Margaret “Marge” Fitterer, a beautiful soul entered this world on August 27, 1939 in New England, the daughter of Aloysius and Mary (Boespflug) Fitterer. She attended St. Mary’s School and graduated with the class of 1957. She pursued her Elementary Education Degree at Northern State and Dickinson State from 1959-1963.
She married Dwile Zeren in 1963 and they later divorced. The Campbell family was richly blessed in 1974 when she became an integral part of their lives, by taking them fishing, to the beach and watching many movies and TV series stretched out on her living room floor. In 1983 she entered into a five year marriage with Gerald Burwick.
Marge had a vast professional career from working at Bill Wolf Insurance Company, Miller Resources, City of Dickinson, Experience Works, Dakota Center for Independent Living and American Bank Center. She was a jack of all trades and could literally learn or teach almost anything.
She was a member of the Eagles and St. Anthony Club. She was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church and did weekly adoration. Marge was strong in her Catholic faith and even in her later years continued to watch Mass on TV and have treasured Sunday visits with Rick and Sheryl Marsh.
In her most recent years, upon moving into Frontier Apartments, she made her famous “tacos in a bag” for all the residents. She set up Wii-bowling, taught others how to use the computer and often helped with obtaining community resources for others in need.
Her favorite activities included reading, cooking, word puzzles, playing computer games, watching old movies and listening to an extensive genre of music. She was well versed in family history and could always remember people’s names and connections. She will long be remembered for being caught up in extended conversations trying to figure out how people were related or connected.
Marge’s fighting spirit and strength endured even with serious health issues. Her faith and courage were an inspiration as she always would say “God has a plan for me”. Marge prided herself on her knowledge and healthy brain which remained with her until the end. During her last days at St. Benedict’s Health Center she knew all the visitors and would call them by name. Her spirit will live on and many will be impacted by her laugher, joy and keen sense of humor.
She is survived by her sisters, Eleanor Fitterer and Mary Ann Bosch along with her sisters-in-law, Irene, Lorraine (Reinhardt), Ruth, Rose and Wilma.
