Margaret Peters, 80, New England, ND died Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at her home. Margaret’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Monday, August 4, 2008 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, New England with Fr. Gary Benz as the celebrant AND Fr. Bruce Krebs and Fr. Basil Atwell, OSB as con-celebrant’s. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, New England. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. There will be a rosary and vigil at 7 p.m., Sunday at the church. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
Margaret Benz was born January 19, 1928 in Rainy Butte Township in Slope County of North Dakota, the daughter of Jack and Frances (Frederick) Benz. She was raised in this area having attended country school through the 8th grade.
Margaret had worked as a waitress for most of her life, but had also was a daycare provider and most recently had worked at the American State Bank. She belonged to the alter guild, enjoyed watching birds, collecting angels, gardening, growing plants and making rag rugs. She was known to have made the best borscht soup.
Margaret is survived by her six children, Jerald (Gina) Peters, Groton, Conn., John (Deb) Peters, Mystic, Conn., Jeff Peters, Prescott Valley, Ariz., Jim Peters, Brooksville, Fla., Juanita (Terry) Koppinger, Dickinson, and Joletta Peters, New England; seven grandchildren, Chad, Christine, Kim, Shannon, Jennifer, Adam and Lauren; three great-grandchildren, Ava, Jake and Kylie; two sisters, Frances (Peter) Urlacher, and Jeanette (Laudie) Veverka; three brothers, Benny (Irene) Benz, Henry (Marge) Benz, and John (Theresia) Benz; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Katie and Judy; and one brother, Adam.
