Margaret T. Anton, 94, Dickinson, ND, died Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at the St. Luke’s Home, Dickinson. Margaret’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 A.M., Thursday, February 1, 2007 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson with Fr. Jim Braaten as the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Elizabeth’s Cemetery, Lefor. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with a rosary & vigil at 8 p.m., with Deacon Bob Stockert presiding. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
Margaret Raab was born February 20, 1912 on the family farm in Stark County of North Dakota, the daughter of Mike and Susanna (Walery) Raab, Sr.. She was raised and educated in Stark County having attended country school.
Margaret married Christ J. Anton on October 30, 1930 at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church, Lefor. Together they farmed and raised their family south of Gladstone. Christ died on March 9, 1977 and Margaret remained on the farm until 1997 when she moved into Dickinson and eventually to the St. Luke’s Home.
Margaret enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, crocheting, and especially calving time and working with her chickens. She was a wonderful cook, loved to bake and spend time with her family and especially her grandchildren.
Margaret is survived by four children, Regina Lefor, Gladstone, Ann (Joe) Oukrop, Rapid City, SD, Elinor (George) Krauter, Dickinson, and Arnold S. Anton, Gladstone; three sisters, Ann (John) Weiler, Fruita, CO, Kathryn Schmidt, Bellevue, WA, and Mary (Louie) Schmidt, Dickinson; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; four step, great-grandchildren; and one great, great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant son, three infant sisters, four brothers and one son-in-law, Jack Lefor.
