Marie Eva Reisenauer was born April 20, 1936 to Frank and Theresa (Kopp) Reisenauer. She attended Rainy Butte Country School, St. Mary’s Catholic School and later New England High School, before continuing her education at Dickinson State College.
Marie married the love of her life, Leslie Doe, and together they built their life on the family homestead. Together they raised six children.
She taught school and was active in 4-H for many years. Marie was also a longtime member of the Homemakers Club, an avid gardener, and a member of the Altar Society. She loved sharing time with everyone, whether it was entertaining, playing cards, teaching CCD, reading a good book, or simply visiting. She was not only shy about sharing advice and had a wonderful sense of humor.
After Leslie passed away, Marie moved to Edgewood Hawks Point in Dickinson, where she made many new friends and continued enjoying life. She loved painting, taking cooking classes, going on bus trips, tending to the flowers on her deck and the vegetables in her raised garden. She especially enjoyed taking part in her children’s and grandchildren’s activities whenever she could.
Marie cherished her family and leaves behind a legacy of love through her children: Brenda (Jack), WA, Shelly (Terry), Fargo, Casey (Melissa), Rochester, MN, Nancy, Circle Pines, MN, Jody (Sarah), Killdeer, and Stacy (Kyle), Dickinson. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren: 13 grandchildren, Courtney (Tony), Emily, Zebulon (Taryn), Gracie, Desirae, Adriane (Kane), Sabrina (Matt), Gabriella (Brody), MiKayla, Harper, Sawyer, Sienna, and Calahan; five great-grandchildren, Lane, Ariya, Amaiyah, Wrenley and Whitten; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie, April 7, 2013; her parents, Frank and Theresa Reisenauer; brothers, John, Tony, and Leo; sisters, Elaine and Frances; numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and others who preceded her.
She lived life to the fullest. Marie found joy in the simple things and always shared her laughter with those around her. Her kindness, love for family, and generous spirit will be remembered by all who knew her.
The family of Marie wishes to express in sincere appreciation for the many acts of kindness, concern for all, messages, sympathy cards, and visits. We would like to thank Fr. Dennis Schafer for celebrating Marie’s Mass and Ladbury Funeral Service for their help and guidance during this time.
Rejoice and be glad, until we meet again! ~ Marie
