Marilyn Olson, 71, Dickinson died Saturday, April 11, 2009 at her home. Marilyn’s funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at the Hillside Baptist Church, Dickinson with Rev. Ronald Gold officiating. Interment will take place at the Bowman Cemetery, Bowman. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday at Ladbury Funeral Service and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.

Marilyn M. Chase was born December 17, 1937 at McIntosh, S.D. to Robert and Frances (Hogarth) Chase. Marilyn was raised and educated in McIntosh. Shortly after graduating from high school, Marilyn married Robert Olson on April 14, 1956. In 1957 Marilyn and Robert moved to Morristown, S.D. were they began their own farming and ranching operation, they moved to Bowman in 1974 and finally to Dickinson in December 1982. Marilyn had been a homemaker until moving to Dickinson where she began working for McDonald’s as a secretary and bookkeeper.

Marilyn enjoyed working in her yard and gardening and was active in many church activities such as bible studies and prayer groups. Marilyn was also involved in Right to Life organizations. But she was happiest hosting family gatherings at her house with her children, grandchildren, and
great-grandchildren around her.

Marilyn is survived by her husband Robert; six children Londa (Steve) Halvorson, Dickinson, Jennifer (Mark Soehren) Olson, Bowman, Kurt (Lisa Bachmeier) Olson, Max, Roberta Olson, Forest Lake, Minn., Dianne Olson, Duluth, Minn., and Stephanie (Kirk) Murphy, Rapid City, S.D.; 21 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Barbara Mills, St. Cloud Minn., and Patricia (Mike) Houser, Larned, Kan.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her son, Bruce and two granddaughters, Erica Olson and Angela Hansey. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Ronald McDonald House, 609 N 7th St. Bismarck, ND 58501.
