Marjorie Evoniuk, 95, Dickinson, died on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at her home. Marjorie’s Parastas will be at 9 a.m., Saturday, May 20, 2023 at St. Demetrius Ukrainian Catholic Church, Fairfield with Fr. Martin Nagy as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Josephat’s Cemetery, Gorham. Visitation will be on Friday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with a rosary and panakhyda at 7 p.m. with Deacon Tony Holt presiding. Visitation will continue on hour prior to the service at the church.

Marjorie Palanuk was born on March 15, 1928 in Dickinson, the daughter of James and Mary (Klym) Palanuk. She was raised and educated in the Fairfield area and had a attended Dickinson State Teachers College where she received her Teaching Certificate.

Marjorie was united in marriage to Samuel J. Evoniuk on February 1, 1946 at St. Demetrius Ukrainian Catholic Church at Ukrainia. They made their home in the Gorham area where they farmed and raised their family. She was a teacher in western North Dakota prairie schools for 25 years, teaching grades 1-8.

She was a member of the UCI Hall of Fame, Founder of the Ukrainian Dance Group in Belfield, and involved in the ladies club at St. Demetrius Church. She enjoyed cross-stitch, reading, spending time with her grandchildren, and organizing family functions.

Marjorie is survived by her children, Chris (Marian) Evoniuk, Austin, Texas and Pamela (Rick) Harwig, Fargo; daughters-in-law, Linda Evoniuk, Belfield and Amy Evoniuk, Newburgh, Idaho; grandchildren, Traci (Chris) Knopik, Brad (Jessie) Evoniuk, Ryan (Shelley) Evoniuk and Lisa (Jared) Evoniuk–Bernethy; great-grandchildren, Sameena Knopik, Ali Knopik, Jacob Evoniuk, Caleb Evoniuk and Kennedy Evoniuk; siblings, Irene (Al) Schorsch, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Joyce (Dan) Krushensky, Anchorage, Alaska and Bob (Carolyn) Palanuk, Portland, Ore.; and brothers-in-law, Bud Peterson, Savage, Mont. and Laudie Kovash, Bozeman, Mont.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam, on November 12, 2009; her sons, Dale, Jim and Bob; her parents; brother, William Palanuk; and sisters, Ellen Cerkoney, Jane Kovash and Virginia Peterson.
