Marjorie (Marge) Hushka Mann Sundgren, 92 years and 8 months to the day, finally got her wish and went peacefully to be with Jesus on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Edgewood Hawks Point, Dickinson, North Dakota. Marjorie’s Funeral Service will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Break Forth Bible Church, Dickinson, with Pastor David Schwartz officiating. Inurnment will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Marge was born June 5, 1933, at the Maternity House in Belfield, North Dakota, the first born and only daughter of Theresa (Tuhy) and Henry Hushka. Over the next eleven years she would be joined by three brothers. At first, they lived in a two-room sod house, north of Zenith, North Dakota on the south bank of the Green River, but after World War II ended, they were finally able to purchase enough lumber to build a 1½ story home on the family farm north of South Heart, North Dakota.
In her earliest grades (1st, 2nd, 4th, & 5th) she attended a one-room country school, but in third grade she attended Saint Peter and Paul’s boarding school in New Hradec, North Dakota to prepare for and receive her First Holy Communion. She was very appreciative of being able to return for sixth, seventh and eighth grades, which was a very special highlight of her young life; finding the teachers very highly educated, lots of books to read, and in general there was always a lot going on. At South Heart High School she continued to enjoy making lifelong friendships, furthering her love of reading, and playing basketball, which developed into a love of high school and college sports in general, where she especially enjoyed supporting and cheering on her kids’, grandkids’, and great grandkids’ sporting endeavors. Receiving high marks in all her classes, she graduated from South Heart High School in 1951.
Marge married Tony Mann, October 14, 1952. They had 11 children in 15 years and 2 months: 8 daughters: Bev, Marla, Karen, Lori, Jane, Nancy, Sheila and Mary; and 3 sons: Dave, Scott and Jeff. With each child life got busier, but she always found time to enjoy her Bridge, Bowling, Catholic Daughter’s and Homemaker’s Club friends; without missing any of her children’s activities, as well as, being a Campfire and Junior Catholic Daughter’s of America Leader. Early on she was a great supporter of Trinity Catholic Schools Mardi Gras, volunteering in the kitchen until she became Chairman of the Mardi Gras Kitchen in 1983.
Marge obtained a bookkeeping certificate by correspondence, beginning her professional work career with Mann Drilling Company, Jurgens Farm Services, White Drug, and the Queen City Club. In May of 1988 she started Dickinson Christian Supply, serving the Dickinson community and surrounding area for over 20 years.
On November 26, 1983 she married Harold Sundgren. Her family then grew to include his three children and families. One of their highlights was traveling to Israel, where they visited many sites, with the Garden of Gethsemane being a highlight, as that is where Jesus prayed. In 2002 Marge was very excited to receive her exhorter’s license with the Church of God, enabling her to go into full time ministry assisting with the pastoral duties at the Heights of Glory Church of God from 2002 – 2011.
After experiencing a stroke September 12, 2021, Marge met every challenge with her exceptional faith, strength, and perseverance. Upon returning to Hawks Point Edgewood she was ‘as sharp as a tack’ and continued to enjoy a good game of bridge or bingo, visits from family and friends and especially her journey of Faith.
Marge is survived by her 11 children: Bev (Dave) Charles, Marla (Dan) Larson, Karen (Jeff) Hoff, Dave Mann, Lori (Bob) Baumann, Jane (Dave) Lessard, Scott (Lisa) Mann, Nancy (Jeff) Aikens, Jeff Mann, Sheila (Glenn) Martin, and Mary (Steve) Norlin; 25 grandchildren: Annie (Brennon) McKenzie, Becky (Shane) Naslund, Patrick (Jill) Larson, Angela (Lucas) Greff, James (Liz) Hoff, Alycia (Thor) Johnson, Jeremiah (Stephanie) Hoff, Jake Mann, Jocelyn (Landin) Rognlin, Rachel (Alex) Renner, Brett Lessard, Erin (Lance) Meyer, Andrea (Jared) Hansen, Michael Mann, Jenny (Jesse) Helgeson, Hailey Mann, Nora Mann, Adam (Kristina) Aikens, Jace Aikens, Jill Mann, Eric (Michelle) Martin, Sydney Martin, Sarah Norlin, Samantha Norlin and Christopher Norlin; along with 41 great-grandchildren.
