Martha M. Marsh, 91, Dickinson, passed away on Monday, November 15, 2021 at CountryHouse Residence, Dickinson. Martha’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Dickinson with Msgr. Thomas Richter as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation will be on Friday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with a rosary and vigil at 7 p.m. with Deacon Leonard Krebs presiding.
Martha was born on August 24, 1930 the family farm northwest of Dickinson to Anton Jr. and Mary (Luptak) Rambousek. She attended grade school at country school near her home and at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Grade School in New Hradec.
Martha was united in marriage to George C. Marsh on November 22, 1948 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in New Hradec.
They purchased a farm northwest of Dickinson. There they farmed and raised beef and dairy cattle. They also raised chickens, ducks and geese along with planting a big garden every year. Martha loved to garden and can her produce. She loved to cook and bake. Always having baked goods on hand when company came over.
Martha was a “country” girl at heart. Growing up she would help out in the field alongside her sisters. She continued after she married by cultivating corn, hauling bales or checking cows whenever needed.
Martha and George raised four children together, Anita, Cary, Tammy and Cally. She belonged to the Rosary Society and the Happy Go Lucky Homemakers Club. She enjoyed crocheting and embroidering in her spare time. She also collected porcelain dolls and certain glassware that caught her eye.
In 1971, Martha and George moved to town and purchased the KOA Campgrounds where Martha also made silk flowers for weddings, anniversaries or parties, etc.
Martha was a happy go lucky person. She loved to try her luck at the casino and did win a few. She loved playing cards. She loved playing with the grandchildren, bouncing them on her knee and singing a certain tune. She loved to sing old time songs in Bohemian. She taught her kids how to dance the polka and waltz.
When George retired in 1987 they moved north of Dickinson along the Green River. Here Martha continued her silk flower business.
Later Martha moved to St. Benedict Court and lived their until 2017 when she moved to CountryHouse. There she lived under the care of amazing staff with patience and love. She lived there until Jesus called her home.
Martha is survived by her son, Cally (DeeAnn) Marsh, Dickinson; two daughters, Anita (Alvin) Steffan and Tammy Dvorak, both of Dickinson; grandchildren, Sonya (John) Privratsky, Barry Steffan, Darcy (John) Fischer, JC (Haley) Steffan, Ken Dvorak (Nikki Straub) and Kevin (Shannay) Dvorak, Ciarra, Alannah (Jacob Hopkins) Marsh and Logan Marsh; great-grandchildren, Evan, Seth, Eldon, Ashlyn, Caleb and Lelani Privratsky, Lachlan Fischer, Hattie Steffan and McKrae Steffan, Addy, Keaton, Owen and Noah Dvorak and Grayson Straub; siblings, Henry (Gladys) Rambousek, Dickinson and Shirley Ann Dahmus, Fargo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George; son, Cary; her parents; brothers, Tony (Edith), Andrew, infant Charlie and infant Joseph; sisters, infant Edith, Dorothy (Andrew) Ridl, MaryAnn (John) Praus, Eleanor (Charles) Marsh, Georgina (Sylvin) Steffan, Victoria (Louis) Sadowsky, Margy (Tony) Jilek; brother-in-law, Paul Dahmus.
