Marvin C. Wert, 80, New England, died Monday, October 26, 2020 at CountryHouse, Dickinson. Marv’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday November 2, 2020 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, New England with Fr. Gary Benz as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Ladbury Funeral Service with a rosary and vigil at 4 p.m. with Deacon Victor Dvorak presiding.
Marvin Wert was born on April 5, 1940 on the Wert Homestead near Lefor, the son of Adam and Mary (Kaufman) Wert. He started his education in the Lefor area. The family moved to Mount Angel, Ore. and after five years moved to the farm north of New England where he has lived ever since and farmed.
Marv was united in marriage to Ann Urlacher on November 22, 1965 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, New England and to this union four children were born, Lisa, Gina, Shari, and Jon.
Being a true steward of the land was very important to him and knowing Devin is our sixth generation farmer gave him much pride. His life was complete loving his children and grandchildren. Marv loved singing every day, an important part of his life.
He served as Grand Knight with the New England Knights of Columbus, was a member of St. Pius Verein and St. Mary’s Booster Club. In his free time he enjoyed bowling, fishing, traveling, playing pinochle and shooting pool.
Marv is survived by his wife, Ann; children, Lisa (Mike) Binstock, Dickinson, Gina Wert, Dickinson, Shari Jo (Randy) Johnson, El Dorado Hills, Calif., and Jon (Sheri) Wert, New England; seven grandchildren, C.J. Geppert, Brenna Wert, Sierra (Casey) Paluck, Simone Johnson, Devin Wert, Venessa Johnson, and Miles Johnson; siblings, Bernie Barber, Boise, Idaho, Mary (Russ) Inscore, Roseburg, Ore., and Gene (Marilyn) Wert, New England.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Rita (Joe) Haun; and nephew, Jon Haun.
