Marvin F. Bohlman, 85, New England, died Friday, March 27, 2020 at St. Luke’s Home, Dickinson. Private Family Services were held at 9 a.m., Monday, March 30, 2020 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with Pastor Collin Neuharth officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the Dickinson American Legion Post 3 Honor Guard. Interment took place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
Marvin was born on a farm in Stark County near the Hettinger County line, the son of Theodore Fred and Patsy (Lesniak) Bohlman. He was raised and educated in New England where he graduated from New England Public High School in 1954. He was also confirmed at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church. Following high school he worked for soil conservation prior to joining the army. He served honorably in the United States Army from July 10, 1958 to April 28, 1960.
Marvin returned home and was united in marriage to Hedy Gullickson on January 6, 1961 at the original Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church. He had worked as a parts man for Oliver Dealership, as a ranch and farm hand for various individuals, the state highway department, and during this time he also served as a brand inspector for the ND Stockman’s Assoc.
He was involved in designing rodeo arenas, he collected and restored old Ford pickups and tractors, played Legion Baseball, and independent basketball, was a huge supporter of NDHSRA, and was a loyal supporter of his children’s and grandchildren’s activities.
He belonged to the Richardton Saddle Club, Jaycee Club, bowling leagues, ND Stockman’s Assoc., his church, the AQHA, APHA, USTRC, and the Oliver Collection Assoc.
Marvin is survived by his wife of 59 years, Hedy; their children, Nancy (Jim) Feller, and Casey (Dodi) Bohlman; grandchildren, Tiera (Jalen) Lamb, Dakota Feller, Reed Feller, Clay Feller, Ryder (friend-Dorothy Floren) Bohlman, Layton (fiance-Clancy Sayer) Bohlman, and Trey Bohlman; great-granddaughter, Layla Lamb; sister, Bonnie Bohlman; brother-in-law, Douglas (friend-Ellen Bergerson) Gullickson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws; sister, Audrey Kuntz; brother, Walter Bohlman; brother-in-law, Clyde Gullickson; and sister-in-law, D.J. Gullickson.
