Mary Ann Koppinger, 80, Lefor, died Saturday, November 19, 2011 at St. Benedict’s Health Center, Dickinson. Mary Ann’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church, Lefor, with Fr. Patrick Moore, OSB as the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Elizabeth’s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday at Ladbury Funeral Service, with a vigil at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church.

Mary Ann Simon was born July 20, 1931 in Dickinson the daughter of Anton and Anna (Jung) Simon. She was raised and educated in New England, graduating from New England St. Mary’s High School in 1949. She attended Dickinson State Teachers College where she received a One Year Teaching Certificate. Mary taught in country schools until 1965.

Mary married Carl T. Koppinger on October 27, 1964, in New England. They farmed together west of Lefor until Carl’s death in January of 1979. Mary continued to make the farm her home until moving into Dickinson in 2005. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, movies, genealogy, traveling, cooking and entertaining.

Mary is survived by her four children, Kyle Koppinger, Dickinson, Glen Koppinger, Dickinson, Joyce (Bradley) Markwardt, Hazen, and Celeste Schlinkert, Cedarville, Ohio; four grandchildren, Jordan Markwardt, Logan Markwardt, Jacob Schlinkert, and Kayla Schlinkert; and four siblings, Lorraine Stoltz, Dickinson, Arnold Simon, New England, Virginia (Raymond) Anton, Mansfield, Ohio, and Marlene (Norman) Anton, Mansfield, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; her parents; son-in-law, Steven Schlinkert; and nephew Ron Anton. The family prefers memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association.
