Mary Ann Sevela, 88, Dickinson died Friday, September 12, 2008 at St. Joseph’s Hospital & Health Center, Dickinson. Mary’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Monday, September 15, 2008 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson with Fr. Jim Braaten as the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with a rosary and vigil at 7 p.m., with Deacon Bob Zent presiding.

Mary Ann Dvorak was born February 26, 1920 in Dickinson the daughter of Frank and Barbara (Peterle) Dvorak. She was raised on the family farm southwest of Dickinson and educated in a rural school near their home.

Mary married Anton “Tony” Sevela on June 28, 1945 in New Hradec. They lived in Dickinson where she worked as a housekeeper at the hospital and also for various motels. Mary was a wonderful caretaker for their mother, Barbara. Whenever possible she would help Tony with different woodworking projects that they did, especially in the later years.

Mary enjoyed working in the garden and canning the produce they grew, quilting, and doing things for others. She was very thrifty and saved many things.

Mary is survived by her brother, Victor W. (Rose) Dvorak, Dickinson; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and a special neighbor and caregiver, Bobby Farrier. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony in July 1995; her parents; and eight siblings, Louis B. Dvorak, Edward Dvorak, Albert Dvorak, George Dvorak, Frank A. Dvorak, Philomena “Minnie” Privratsky, Sr. Augusta, and Pauline Hondl.
