Mary Kohl, 92, New England, died Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at the St. Luke’s Home, Dickinson. Mary’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Monday, November 3, 2008 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, New England with Fr. Basil Atwell, OSB as the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday at Ladbury Funeral Service and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. There will be a rosary and vigil at 7 p.m., Sunday at Ladbury Funeral Service with Deacon Ralph Stockert presiding.
Mary Kampf was born June 4, 1916 to John and Mary (Bleizeffer) Kampf at Lefor, where she also received her education. She married Joseph Kohl on November 10, 1936 at Lefor and they moved to their farm near New England. Over the next 60 years, Mary raised six children and helped with much of the farm work. She also enjoyed crocheting (having left her family and friends supplied with afghans), baking, gardening and in her later years she took up painting. Mary was a member of St. Mary’s Altar Guild and the German-Hungarian Club.
Mary is survived by her six children, Joseph J. (Dorothy) Kohl, New England, Mary (Tom) Werran, Luck, Wisc., Barbara (Jerry) Heil, White Bear Lake, Minn., Frank (Margot) Kohl, Bismarck, Janice (Tom) Burk, Minneapolis, Minn., and Kenneth (Maribeth) Kohl, Anaconda, Mont.; 21 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Hilda (Pete) Kaufman, Dickinson. She was preceded in death by her husband, one infant son, one brother, John and one sister, Ann.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, New England, The St. Luke’s Home or to the Evergreen in Dickinson.
