Mathilda “Tillie” (Wandler) Binstock, 94, Dickinson, died peacefully on Friday, November 4, 2011 at St. Benedict’s Health Center, Dickinson. Tillie’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Fr. Charles Heidt as the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Pius Cemetery, Schefield. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson. There will be a St. Pius Verein Rosary & Vigil at 7 p.m., Monday.

Mathilda Schoch was born September 10, 1917 to Anton and Isabella (Berger) Schoch on the family farm near Schefield. She grew up and attended St. Pius Grade School and later worked to obtain her GED. At the age of 14 she worked at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minn., until coming home to help on the family farm.

Tillie married Jerome “Rollie” Wandler, on October 4, 1938, as part of a double ring ceremony with her sister Rose and Ralph Frank. They were blessed with six children, two daughters and four sons. Tillie was a stay-at-home mother until the death of her husband Rollie, at which time she lived with her daughter, Louise in Billings, Mont. While there she trained to be a CNA at St. Vincent’s Hospital until her return to Dickinson. She worked as a nanny for Dr. Keith and Dorothy Foster, and as a greeter at Henning Funeral Home.

In 1973, Tillie married Joseph M. Binstock, at which time she inherited 10 stepchildren and their families. For some she was the only grandmother they knew. Her hobbies included; fishing, camping, bowling, raising flowers, reading, visiting, singing, playing cards and computer games, watching videos and most of all spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Tillie was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Daughters, St. Pius Verein, and a long time volunteer for St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary. She was known for her compassion, warmth and kindheartedness.

Tillie is survived by her children and spouses; Louise (John Grove) Day, Bismarck, Clarence (Kathryn) Wandler, Billings, Mont., Richard Wandler, Schefield, and Leo (Diane) Wandler, Bismarck; daughters-in-law, Ann Wandler, Schefield and Mary Wandler, Billings; son-in-law, Boyd Haugrose, Williston; 13 grandchildren, Tracy Banks, J.D. Haugrose, Jon Haugrose, Jerry Wandler, Natalie Wandler, Michelle Kawane, Melissa Buckmiller, Chad Wandler, Stephanie Davis, Jennifer Toops, Kristin Wandler, Kara Harris and Scott Wandler, and their spouses; 28 great-grandchildren; her sister, Rose Frank, Dickinson; sisters-in-law, Magdalen Schoch, Dickinson, Katie (Frank) Fisher, Oregon, and Florence Chadderdon, Idaho. She is also survived by stepchildren, Mary Binstock, Martina (Kenneth) Stagl, Eleanor (Fritz) Twardowsky, Joan (Joe) Berger, Mildred (Clarence) Bender, Victor (Dianne) Binstock, Diane Binstock, Jeanie (Ken) Obritsch, Ervin (Diane) Binstock, and Karen (Roque) Kadrmas; 38 step-grandchildren; 73 step-great-grandchildren; and seven step-great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rollie on July 4, 1967; daughter, Janet Haugrose, Nov. 18, 1986; son, Earl Wandler, Aug. 12, 2003; great-grandson, Mathias Harris in 2004; 2nd husband, Joe on Dec. 16, 1994; her siblings and their spouses, Catherine (Frank) Wanner, Valentine (Katie) Schoch, Jerome (Emma) Schoch, Sister Mary Schoch, SSND, Wilhelmina Schoch, Veronica (Christ) Frank, Adam Schoch, Eva (John) Frank, and Russ Chadderdon; three step-grandchildren; two step-sons, Casper and Ray Binstock; one step-son-in-law, Melvin Meyer; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Bridget (Pete) Messer, Jenny (Johnny) Vondrachek, Patricia (Paul) Jahner, Dominic Wandler, and Lorraine (Albert) Kudrna.

Our mother had a tremendous capacity to serve God, family and all those she came in contact with on a daily basis. We the family, feel truly blessed to have had such a wonderful mother.
