Maxine Mavis Markley, age 76, of Dickinson, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2023. Memorial services will be held Thursday, February 16th at 10 am at the Evangelical Bible Church in Dickinson, with Pastor Ron Dazell officiating. The burial to follow at 2 pm MT at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
Maxine Mavis Hokstad was born March 29, 1946 to Max and Lena (Renskers) Hokstad in Mott. She attended country school until high school, when she attended school in Hettinger. After graduation, she attended college and obtained an administrative degree. Maxine held many jobs throughout her life that she thoroughly enjoyed.
Maxine married Victor Blade and to this union, four children were born; Ian, Brad, Cherri, and Justin. Maxine was active in the church and shared a passion for gardening and canning. She was well known for her homemade pickles. She loved marigolds and spent many hours tending to her flowers.
Maxine married Dennis Markley on February 27th, 1996 in Bowman. Through this marriage, she gained two step-children; Dennis Jr. and Jennifer.
Maxine loved spending time with her family. Her favorite pass-time included playing cards with those she loved.
Maxine is survived by her husband Dennis Markley; her children Ian (Carla) Blade, Brad (Kristie) Blade, Cherri (Steve) Hendricks, and Justin Blade; step-children Dennis Jr and Jennifer (Mario) Garza; brother Robert (Sharon) Hokstad; brother-in-law Harlan Sorlien; fourteen-grandkids; and eleven great-grandkids.
She is preceded in death by her sister Leona Sorlien, and parents, Max and Lena Hokstad.
