Melody Ann Plunkett-Hansen-Elis, 62, Dickinson, died peacefully on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at St. Luke’s Home, Dickinson after a long battle with liver disease. Melody’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 p.m., Monday, January 3, 2022 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Dickinson with Fr. Keith Streifel as celebrant. Interment will take place at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with a rosary and vigil at 3 p.m. with Deacon Ross Reiter presiding.

Melody, was born July 17, 1959 in Elgin to the proud parents of Gerald and Clara (Schafer) Plunkett. Melody was the oldest of seven children. She attended Wahpeton State School of Science and continued on to DSU where she graduated and earned a BS Degree in Accounting/Business.

Mom enjoyed writing poetry, watching older TV series and the History channel. She took pleasure in gardening, canning, and cooking meals for family gatherings. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Melody is survived by her three children, Christina Hansen, Dickinson, Timothy Hansen, Dickinson, and Miranda Elis, Mandan; 11 grandchildren, Dallas Hansen, Timmy Hansen, Timothy(TJ) Gaab, Schayla Hansen, Cassandra Kindt, Piper Kindt, Camden Elis, Xavier Kahlstorf, Hayley Knopik, Jaxson Ream and Arlus Ream; four siblings, Colleen Martin, FL, Faye Jenkins, NY, Valarie Nelson, SD, and Todd Plunkett, SD; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two siblings, Jerry and Mark Plunkett.

The family wishes to thank the entire staff and nurses of St. Luke’s Nursing Home and CHI St. Alexius Hospice Care for their love and support and care they extended to our Mom and to us during her stay. She truly loved all of you and so do we. God Bless each of you and your families alike.
