Melvin E. Pirkl, 79, Dickinson, died on Sunday September 10, 2023 from injuries sustained in an accident. Melvin’s Celebration of Life Service will be at 2 p.m., Monday September 18, 2023 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with Pastor Scott Erickson as officiant. Military Honors will be provided by the Dickinson American Legion Post 3 Honor Guard. Inurnment will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Melvin was born May 28, 1944. He served eight years in the United States Air Force and returned to Dickinson where he owned and operated Superior Cleaners for 40 years.
He is survived by his children, Robert (Jodi) Pirkl and Carol (Les) Jenkins; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rita (Dave) Halstead and Bonnie Vondracek; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Melvin is also survived by his “Shack Mate” Pam; their sons, Brandon (Jen) and “Half Black Son” Josh (Maggie). He is also survived by his best friend, Darin and recent shooting buddy Jim; along with countless friends that he spent time shooting with. But most of all, the greatest loss will be felt by the light of his life, Grace.
