Melvina Christine Entzel entered this world on May 8, 1943 to Bernard and Mary (Flemmer) Entzel. She was delivered by her midwife grandmother, Ludmilla Entzel in a small stone house, three miles east of Halliday. She spent her early years of school in Halliday until the family moved to Dodge where she completed her education. She began working as a house maid and babysitter at the age of twelve for various people. During her teen years she worked as a waitress in the Halliday and Dodge areas.
She was united in marriage to Marvin Entze on Friday the 13th, November 1964. Early into their marriage she worked as a ranch cook north of Hebron where Marvin was employed as a ranch hand. Later on Marv was employed at Husky Inc. while Melvina worked at various hotels and motels as a housemaid. She worked at Royal Oak Inc. for eight years in the packaging department and upon the plant closure she worked as one of the first resident managers of Evergreen. They later moved to Bowman where Marv was employed as a Highway Patrol employee and Melvina continued working as a housemaid. Following Marv’s retirement they moved to Dickinson where they currently reside.
She enjoyed canning fruits and vegetables, shopping, attending auctions and garage sales, collecting figurines—especially roosters (her kitchen looked like a chicken coop), and she especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Melvina is survived by her husband, Marvin. Having never been blessed with children their own, she adored all of her nephews and nieces. A special person she thought of as a son is Trinity Unrath. She regarded Tucker Unrath and Carissa Dalen as her grandson and granddaughter. She is also survived by her siblings, Daniel (Maria) Entzel, David (Yvonne) Entzel, Victor (Wanda) Entzel, Delmer (Vicki) Entzel, Maggie Jordan, Ruth Juhl and Irene (Marvin) Kukla; brothers-in-law, Delmar Entze, Roy (Anita) Entze, and Jerry (Mary) Entze; very close friends, Grant and Edna Paulson, Joe and Joy Naico, Chuck and Cindy Noyce, Jay and Holly Dalen, Doug and Liz Kolling, Carissa Dalen, Ashlyn Maul, and Derek Stephens; and long-time friends, Ardella Veverka, Mary Guenther, and Mary Meduna.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Ernie, Henry and Ernest; in-laws, Jacob and Ella Entze.
A special thank you to her hospice nurses Sara, Darcy, and special caregiver, Liz.
