Merle A. Soehren, 79, Dickinson, died Saturday, February 20, 2021 at his home. There will be a Gathering of Family & Friends on Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson. A Graveside Service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, February 25, 2021 at the Reeder Cemetery with Pastor Debbie Molbert officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the Carl Hendrickson American Legion Post 51, Reeder.

Merle A. Soehren was born July 10, 1941 in Scranton, the son of Henry and Helen (Gunther) Soehren. He was raised and educated in the Hettinger and Scranton area, graduating from Reeder High School. Following graduation he married his high school sweetheart, Cynthia Donner and they were blessed with two children, Jeff and JoEllen.

He joined the United States Army and served honorably from April 18, 1961 to April 17, 1964. The family lived in Minnesota for 14 years where he began his trucking career. They moved to Dickinson where he continued his career in trucking, retiring with over a million care free miles.

He enjoyed fishing, camping, spending time with his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Merle is survived by his children, Jeff (Patrice) and JoEllen (Ed) Shypkowski; grandsons, Jory, Jeremy, Jesse (Jessie) and Jacob Shypkowski; three great-grandchildren, Noah, Tenly and Maizy; two step-grandchildren, six step-great-grandchildren; brother, Delos (Cheryl) Soehren; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Cindy on August 14, 2018; his parents; and two brothers, Henry and Marvin.

He will great missed by all.
