Michael Allen Anderson was born February 7, 1969. On February 27, 1969, Michael joined his parents Loretta (Carlson) and Verne Anderson at the family farm south of Regent. In 1972, he was joined by his sister Michelle. At the age of eight, Michael lost his father Verne. Michael attended the Regent Public School all twelve years, graduating in 1987. After high school Michael went off to see the world for several adventures. Mike worked as a security officer in Bismarck, worked at Big Sky Ski Resort in Montana. This gave Mike the opportunity to become an excellent snowboarder. It was following his father’s death that he started his farming career, working with his grandfather Hilmer until 1993. At the age of 24 Michael then took on the full responsibility of the farm.
His love of adventure provided him with many new and exciting experiences. In 1986, he did the I 500 snowmobile race in Canada. With his friend Kendra they participated in the Maah Daah Hey Trail bike race in Medora. Mike went on many hunting trips for elk, deer and pheasants. His ownership of the Roughrider Pheasant Company gave Mike the opportunity to meet people from all over the world.
In 1989 Mike married Leah Tollefson. Together they had three sons, Anthony, Aaron and Austin. Later Anthony and Aaron joined Michael at his mother’s residence in Regent.
Mike shared his love of the outdoors and hunting with his sons Anthony and Aaron and recently his daughter-in-law Mackenzy. Mike’s grandchildren, Rylen and Remi loved going fishing on the boat with Grandpa. Mike introduced his grandson Rylen, to snowmobiling and they spent many hours playing in the snow.
Along with hunting, football was an interest of Mike’s. After his high school football playing days, Mike was a much admired assistant defensive coach for the Mott-Regent Wildfire, preparing the team for their state meet. Whenever there was a need, that is where Mike would be.
At the age of 17 Mike joined the Regent Fire Department and later the Regent Ambulance Squad later developing the reputation as the safest driver on the squad. Whenever the Fire Department needed equipment, Mike’s wheeling and dealing talents came into play.
