Michael was born June 4, 1968, in Fort Rucker, Ala., the son of John. W. and Leona (Schmidt) Brinkmeyer. John died November 27, 1968, serving his country in Vietnam. He was adopted by James Odermann when his mother and James were married. Michael Scott was a loving and devoted father. Mike loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter, relishing any opportunity to spend outside, whether it be in the North Dakota Badlands or the plains of Nebraska. Coupled with his love of the outdoors, was a love of sports. Mike engaged in them as both a participant and spectator. Whether he was cheering for his family members, children, or favorite professional sports team, the Green Bay Packers, Mike did so with a zeal and energy that embodied the very definition of the word “fan”.

Mike was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need; there was no such thing as a stranger to Mike. Mike will remembered fondly by his co-workers as a great boss who led by example with an unmatched work ethic.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, his grandparents, Frank M. and Kathryn Schmidt, and Herbert Brinkmeyer.

He is survived by children, Tehryn, Jaylyn, and Kaedyn; parents, James and Leona Odermann of Belfield; three sisters, Lori (Joe) Fisher, Fargo; Kari (Thorsten) Hiepko-Odermann, Bad Soden, Germany; Jessica (Aric) Grove, Ray; four brothers, Mark Odermann, Bellevue, Wash.; Kyle (Audrey) Odermann, Lenexa, Kan.; Jacob Odermann, Williston; John Odermann, Dickinson; grandparents, Harold and Helen Odermann, Dickinson; Margaret Brinkmeyer, Green Valley, Ariz.; special family friend Judy Vranna, Dickinson; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In lieu of flowers, it is suggested memorials be deposited with the Scott’s Tots Fund at any US Bank.
