Mildred “Millie” (Wentz) Baar, 86, Mandan, was placed in the arms of Jake and Caroline (Koch) Wentz on March 26, 1930 and on January 19, 2017 the angels placed her into the arms of God.

She was born and raised in Center and was one of seven children.

She married Herman Fandrich in Hazen in 1946 and they had three children, David, Kathleen “Kate”, and Thomas. She worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Chapman for many years. Later she moved to Dickinson where she met and married Richard “Dick” Baar in 1975. Dick passed away suddenly in October 2004. Millie was an avid reader and her library was extensive, she enjoyed early American history. Her most valued possession was her much worn Bible.

In August of 2009 Millie had a stroke and she decided to make Mandan Living Center her new home. We would like to thank the staff for taking such wonderful care of “Miss Millie”, so many of you have become family, we have shared so much… Thank you for your loving care of our Mom.

Millie is survived by her son David (Charisse) Fandrich in Mandan, daughter Kate (Sam) Smith and son Thomas (Bonnie) Fandrich in Spokane, Wash.; and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, all her sisters and brothers, LaVern, Lualla, Clarence, Floyd, Lloyd and Calvin.

At Millie’s request, there will be no funeral services. Cremation has taken place and she will be placed next to Dick in the Dickinson Mausoleum. If you wish to do something in remembrance of her, please give a donation to your favorite charity.  Her last wish was “Love one another, stay close to one another, until we meet again”.
