Milton Ralph Little Owl was born in 1970 to Willard Little Owl Sr. and Mary (Young Eagle) Little Owl in Watford City. Milton was a child of the knife clan/three clan and received his name “Kéèka Huu” (Raven Comes) from his Grandpa Ralph Little Owl.
He was raised in Twin buttes, along with his siblings Willard JR., Wade, Willdette, and Mark. Growing up Milton was a playful and creative entertainer and enjoyed riding his horse “Red.” He loved to pretend he was a powwow announcer on his karaoke machine making announcements with the microphone. Milton attended Beulah Elementary school and lived shortly in Beulah, with Grandma Benz. He also joined the Special Olympics and would go on to win multiple awards throughout his lifetime. After the passing of both parents, Milton moved to Bismarck, with his siblings to live with Aunt Lois Little Owl. Milton graduated from Bismarck High School in 1990. After graduation Milton volunteered with the Salvation Army and participated in the American Indian Church and other organizations in the Bismarck-Mandan area. Milton loved spending time with family and friends and would often stop by in his blue and white Chevy pickup truck. He lived in the area until the passing of Auntie Lois. Milton then moved to Fargo, with brother Will (AKA Porky) until his passing.
In the Fargo/Moorhead area, Milton was involved in many different organizations/groups such as Friendship, VTC, and the Activity Center where he developed special friendships with Chelsea S. and Amanda S. He held various jobs most recently, he worked alongside owner/auntie/grandma/friend Tanya Redroad at Tee’s Tacos as the “Fry Guy.” Milton was an Oscar awarding winning actor in his theatrical plays his most notable part was the Christmas Tree. Milton was crowned Prom King when the activity center held their annual formal. You could count on Milton to be at any rally, cultural event, parade, or seasonal outings. Milton was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and he liked to sing praise and worship, he would enthusiastically play his tambourine. Milton was always on the move, you would see him biking or walking throughout the FM area. He also enjoyed bowling, swimming, and playing softball with his friends. He actively lived his life to the fullest. Milton loved playing Bingo with his bingo partner Mable Braille. He enjoyed camping, bonfires, BBQ’s, rodeos and powwows. He looked forward to singing alongside the drum group Buffalo River (Mike Gabbard.), Iron Bull, and other many other drum groups that welcomed him. Milton adored his dog CiCi and proudly introduced her by her Indian name “Snowflake.” He would take her on long adventure walks. Milton loved making popcorn and having movie nights. Milton enjoyed telling stories, jokes, and teasing family and friends. He especially enjoyed teasing his brother Otto “Ho Ho”. Milton was readily available to lend a helping hand as long as you offered him a pop, even if he was not supposed to have one.
Our dear family friend Dr. Albert Allick once stated, “SOME PEOPLE JUST LIVE, BUT MILTON LIVED HIS LIFE TO THE FULLEST.” “Our big brother is a giant in so many ways, He’s a huge Inspiration and will be missed dearly.”
