Milton Unumb Bobb was born on March 19, 1933, at the farm southeast of Taylor to Spencer and Maxine (Unumb) Bobb. He was raised and educated in the Taylor area, having graduated from Taylor High School in 1951. Milton married Elizabeth “Liz” Wahlers, his high school sweetheart on January 21, 1955, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Richardton. They had four children: Joy, Jim, Jay, and Joel.

In 1954, the call came for him to be a GI. Soon this found him at Fort Knox, KY, where he was assigned to an Armor Division. He advanced from commander to instructor and his next assignment was as a personal driver to a Colonel in Germany. After being honorably discharged, he and Liz went on their honeymoon to Colorado Springs, CO. They fell in love with the area and decided to stay. He found a job selling shoes at Karl’s Shoe Store. A couple of months later, he became the assistant manager, which led to a promotion to manage the Billings, MT location. In the spring of 1963, with a growing family of three children, he knew the home farm was the best place to be. Raising sheep fulfilled his dreams of rural life.

Milton was a lifelong member of Taylor Lutheran Church, a member of Family Bible Camp, served on the Hettinger Research Extension board for 27 years, Southwest Grain board, and the Richardton Farmers Union Oil board. He enjoyed collecting postage stamps, caring for plants in his garden, photographing historic homes and barns, and weaving rag rugs on his 100-year-old loom.

Milton is survived by his children; Joy (James) Mische, Pipestone, MN, James (LaVonne) Bobb, Taylor, Jay (Cindy) Bobb, Garretson, SD, and Joel (Kjrsten) Bobb, Wever, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Liz, on October 24, 2016; his parents, Spencer and Maxine Bobb; brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Patty Bobb; and great-granddaughter, Thea Bobb.
