Minnie Meduna was the fifth child of 13 children of Vincent and Minnie (Ridl) Meduna, born March 10, 1923 on the family farm north of South Heart. She was raised and educated in the Zenith and Belfield area.

On November 8, 1944, Minnie married Louis Polensky at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, and to this union four children were born. Together they farmed northeast of Belfield until 1978, then retired and continued to make the farm their home. Minnie lived her life working and playing side by side with Louis with whatever needed to be done. She loved to go on 4-wheeler rides with Louis and check the crops and the badlands. Many summer days were spent fishing and camping with the kids and grandchildren. She enjoyed dancing and listening to Czech music.

Minnie’s embroidered dishtowels and crocheted doilies are treasures given by her to all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Other family and friends also received these treasured gifts.

Baking was a great enjoyment to Minnie with her daughter and daughter-in-law, granddaughters and great-granddaughters. She was a great teacher in making kolache, bread and cinnamon twists. Raising a large garden and canning were always a large part of her summers. She loved to spend time with her family and will be missed very much by all who knew her. The Meduna family reunions were something she never missed and greatly enjoyed.

Minnie is survived by three children, Vernon (Glenella) Polensky, Belfield, Myron (Wendy) Polensky, Belfield, and Beverly (Ken) Ridl, Belfield; ten grandchildren, Clint (Peggy) Ridl, Sandy (Ike) Kuntz, Dawn (Jody) Dittus, Tory (fiancée-Jessi Stecher) Polensky, Lory Polensky, Kodi Polensky, Tobie Polensky, Michelle Key, Mike Key and Matt Key; ten great-grandchildren; four brothers, Charles (Irene) Meduna, Dickinson, Henry Meduna, Rock Springs, Wyo., Frank (Ramona) Meduna, Dickinson, and Art (Gen) Meduna, Belfield; one sister, Evelyn Beyer, Ariz.; and four sisters-in-law, Mary Meduna, Georgie Meduna, Janet Meduna and Ardis Meduna.
