Muriel A. Dassinger, 97, Dickinson, died on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at CHI St. Alexius Dickinson. Private Family Service will be held at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson. Interment will take place at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Dickinson.
Muriel A. Kunze was born June 18, 1926 on the family farm near Jamestown, the daughter of Carl and Nellie (Schmuhl) Kunze. Muriel moved to Dickinson where she held various jobs. Her last position was secretary to the president of Dickinson State College.
She served as secretary treasurer of the Rotary for many years and had been admitted as the first women Rotarian in Dickinson. Muriel strived to live up to the Rotary motto.
She adored her children and grandchildren and would do anything for them. She was always eager to listen to their problems and gave sound advice and response. Muriel was a fiercely independent and strong woman who never backed down to a challenge.
Muriel is survived by her children, LaDaun (Bruce) Johnson, Gary (Mime) Link, and Janel (Rod) Dowhaniuk; grandchildren, Jana (Mark) Butler, Lindsay (Kyle) Seyller, Anthony Palaia, Derek (Jessica) Dowhaniuk, Cole (Cheyenne Leingang) Dowhaniuk, William Link, and Benjamin (Stuart Klein) Link; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Elizabeth Kunze and Marcella (Jim) Koch.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Harry Link and Nicholas Dassinger; daughter, Cynthia DeBlois; siblings, Carl, Daniel, and David Kunze, Myrtle Krahler, Julie Nelson, Dorothy Carter, and Margaret Biddle.
