Nick H. Paul, 96, Dickinson, died on Thursday, September 10, 2026 surrounded by his family at CHI St. Alexius Dickinson. Nick’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, September 26, 2026 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson with Fr. Robert Shea as celebrant. Military Honors will be provided by the Dickinson American Legion Post 3 Honor Guard. Interment will follow at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., Friday, September 25, 2026 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with a Rosary and Vigil at 6 p.m. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass at the church.
Nick Henry Paul was born June 19, 1930 on the family farm southeast of Dickinson to Valentine and Barbara (Schneider) Paul. He was raised and educated in rural country schools, working on the family farm until he was inducted into the U.S. Army in September 1951 during the Korean Conflict. Paul served as a Military Policeman in Japan and was honorably discharged in September 1953.
On October 6, 1954, Nick married Cecelia “Ceal” Binstock. They remained on the farm for two years before moving to Dickinson, where they raised their family. Nick worked at Red Owl and several farm and ranch supply stores, including NoDak Supply, BigBear, Tractor Supply, and Anfinson’s, until his retirement in 1992.
Nick enjoyed remodeling, painting, and fixing his rentals. He was a real handyman and fixed everything. Each year, he tended a large, weed-free garden and built a basement fruit room that held 500 jars, which he helped fill with produce from his garden.
He enjoyed coffee with friends, working jigsaw puzzles, and going to the casino.
Nick was a member of St. Pius Verein, Eagles Club, St. Anthony Club, German Hungarian Club, and belonged to St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church.
Nick is survived by his wife of 72 years, Ceal; his children, Gary (Diane) Paul, Dickinson, Kayleen (Myron) Schank, Dickinson, Wayne (Julie) Paul, Homeland, CA, Jolyn Hartman, Dickinson, Don (Linda) Paul, Dickinson, Kent Paul, Dickinson, Bobbi (Greg) Schaff, Aurora, CO, Susie Krank, Aurora, CO, Nikki (Tim) Sand, Parker, CO, and Keith Paul, Dickinson; 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Agnes Paul.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Lori; brothers, Joe and Henry; sister, Lena; and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law.
