Nick Rehling, 87, Richardton, died Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at the Richardton Health Center. Nick’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m., Monday, June 26, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Richardton, with Fr. Boniface Muggli, OSB as the celebrant. Visitation will be on Sunday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. There will be a rosary & vigil at 7 p.m., Sunday at Ladbury Funeral Service, with Deacon Bob Zent presiding.
Nick W. Rehling was born on a farm north of Richardton to Matt and Elizabeth (Scholz) Rehling on April 4, 1930. Later on his family moved to a farm south of Richardton. Nick was raised and educated in the Richardton area. Nick was united in marriage to Agnes Gaab on September 30, 1953 at St. Mary’s Church in Richardton. They took over the family farm, farming there until 2011. It was at this time they moved to Richardton.
For many years after harvest he worked for Behm’s Propane during the winter months. He always looked forward to visits from his kids and grandkids.
He enjoyed reading western books, working crossword puzzles, listening to country music and watching “MASH” and “Andy Griffith”.
Nick is survived by his wife, Agnes; two children, Sandi Jalbert, Richardton and Robert Rehling, Warren, Ore.; three grandchildren, Stacy (Chad) Simonson, Fargo, Deanna (Brad) Nelson, Wahpeton, and Aftan (David) Damon, Bend, Ore.; five great-grandchildren, Melody Simonson, Nicolas Simonson, Paige Simonson, Wyatt Nelson and Ava Nelson.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Matt and Elizabeth Rehling; son-in-law, Dennis Jalbert, Jr.; and daughter-in-law, Jannita Rehling.
