Nickolas Joseph Schweiger was born on February 14, 1936 in Mott, the son of Carl and Eva (Mayer) Schweiger. He was raised and educated in Mott. He enlisted the United States Army, serving in the Korean Conflict. After his honorable discharge from the Army, Nick married Lorraine Frieze on October 3, 1960. They were blessed with 62 years of marriage and to this union five children were born, Leon, Brenda, Richard, Allen, and Wayne.

Nick trucked for over 40 years. He started his own company, Schweiger Trucking, in 1989. He later sold the business to Richard so he could retire, but stayed involved by helping with the books and dispatching.

Nick enjoyed camping. Many weekends were spent at Schatz Point at Lake Tschida. He was always excited about the prospect of fishing, but his pole never hit the water!

Nick and Lorraine also enjoyed watching their grandson, Mike, race motocross. They camped with Allen’s family, cheering him on.

He was a member of the Eagle’s Club in Dickinson. He served on the board as president and past president.

Nick will be remembered for being a hard worker with a terrific sense of humor.
