Noah P. Medlar, 32, formerly of Dickinson, died unexpectedly Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at his home in Minot. Noah’s memorial service will be at 7 p.m., Monday, December 5, 2011 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with Pastor Lisa Lewton officiating.

Noah Pennington Medlar was born April 22, 1979, in Dickinson to Richard and Deborah (Starkey) Medlar. He attended school in Dickinson and graduated from Dickinson High School in 1997. Noah had a creative mind, and while he was in high school, he was active in music and drama.

Noah was married for a time to Nikki Fiedler from Belfield. Together they had two beautiful children: Trent, age 11 and Zoe, age 7.

Noah’s most satisfying employment was at Sykes in Minot, where he started as a computer technician and was later promoted to a software trainer. Noah also attended Minot State University.

Noah loved his children and was an excellent father. He enjoyed playing computer games and working on computers; he became the go-to person in his family whenever anyone had a computer problem. Noah had a passion for music, especially industrial rock. His favorite performer was Trent Reznor from the band, Nine Inch Nails, who was the influence for the naming of Noah’s son. As he grew older, Noah discovered a joint love of goose hunting with his father, Rich, and he looked forward to the next hunt. Among his circle of friends, Noah was considered a trusted companion.

Noah was preceded in death by his mother, Deborah Medlar; paternal grandparents, Clyde and Lillian Medlar; maternal grandparents, Floyd and Ruth Smith; and uncle, Fred Medlar. He is survived by his children, Trent and Zoe, who reside with their mother in Portland, Ore.; his father and stepmother, Richard and Mary Tompkins Medlar, Omaha, Neb.; a brother, Ira Medlar, Belfield; two sisters, Amy (Spencer) Tuhy, Belfield, and Jodi Medlar, Helena, Mont.; aunt and uncle, Lloyd and Barb Medlar, Rockford, Ill.; aunt, Donna Gray, Earlville, Ill.; and numerous cousins.
