Oscar T. Stenehjem, 96, Dickinson, ND, died Monday, March 24, 2008 at the St. Luke’s Home, Dickinson. There will be a private memorial service for the residents and staff of St. Luke’s Home, on Monday at the St. Luke’s Home Chapel with Rev. Steven Schou officiating. Interment will take place at Riverview Cemetery, Williston, ND.
Oscar was born January 31, 1912 in Williston, ND, the son of Thomas A. and Mina (Huseby) Stenehjem. He was raised and educated in Williston.
Oscar married Loretta C. Avery on June 26, 1936 in Williston. Oscar worked as a mechanic from 1931 to 1945 at various places. He then attended NDSCS at Wahpeton, ND in 1945 and received his electricians certificate. In 1947 he went to work for Espseth Electric in Williston and that same year bought them out and renamed it to Triangle Electric. He received his Masters License in 1948 and has worked as an electrician until his retirement in 1974. Oscar and Loretta moved to Kingman, AZ, and on December 28, 2002 Loretta died and Oscar then moved to Dickinson. While in Dickinson he resided at the Evergreen prior to moving to the St. Luke’s Home.
Oscar enjoyed golfing and throughout the years he has shot 4 holes-in-one.
Oscar is survived by three children, Jerome (Joan) Stenehjem, Dickinson, Mavis Halvorson, Moorhead, MN, and Thomas (Hanna) Stenehjem, Carlisle, PA; seven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and one brother, Willis (Bev) Stenehjem, Billings, MT. He was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta, parents, and seven brothers and sisters.
